When We Do Meet Again |
|
When We Do Meet Again is the best selling book of the Time Travelers' series. Why do fans love this book? Here are a few comments from readers, taken from Amazon.com:
I purchased this book last Saturday and finished it Monday evening. I was so mesmerized by Van Horne's book, I could not put it down. I must say that this is the best book of fiction I have read in a very long time. I plan to read the rest in the time travelers series. I only wish that we could actually take such a journey back in time.
When We Do Meet Again is a must read for anyone who loves a good mystery, time travel love story, haunted mansion's in New Orleans, and Southern Plantations in the 1830's, handsome Creole heroes, and tempered Creole beauties. This is the only mystery in the time travel series so far, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Believe me when I tell you that you will love this book! I highly recommend it, and if I tell you too much it will spoil the ending for you--so if you have never read this series--this is a good book to start with.
This was a first time read for me and I found Ms. Van Horne a very entertaining author. This book had a great romance, wonderful location, and a great mystery. A doctor falls in love with his resident ghost and finds that he wants to help her onto the next place. He is reluctant to tell anyone about his feelings and thinks that he may just be going insane when he finds an ad for Time Travelers. He contacts Sam and the next thing he knows he is planning a trip to visit his love in person. He plans on saving her from being killed perhaps by her husband. Problem is he is a dead ringer for the bad guy but he will do what he has to give peace to Isabelle. This was a very touching story and I found myself laughing and crying. If you enjoy reading a story that touches on all of your emotions as being creative this is the story for you.
This book is not only a favorite among faithful readers. It has also received praise, and four stars, from Romantic Times reviewer Gabrielle Pantera, who said:
Van Horne does a great job pulling readers into the story and making them want to know what will happen with the characters. This book, number four, can be read without knowledge of the other books in the series. If you like science fiction and romance, this is the author for you.

Dance with me, Isabella
by H. Van Horne
(For Louis)
Dance with me, Isabella,
Take my hand to start.
Beauty, grace, clouds of lace,
Sway inside my heart.
Dance with me, Isabella,
Twirl inside my arms.
Two steps--glide--by my side,
Free from fear or harm.
Dance with me, Isabella,
Eyes so bright, so bold.
Secret kiss; stolen bliss,
Charms my very soul.
Dance with me, Isabella,
Shadows part the night.
Lost and mourned; Heaven born,
Spinning out of sight.
Dance with me, Isabella,
For a rest it seems.
Embrace me bride; from the other side,
And waltz inside my dreams.
Dance with me, Isabella,
Loathsome destiny.
The tune imparts a broken heart;
And love’s sweet memory.

I first met Louis, the muse for WWDMA and the poem, meditating on an airplane as I headed to New Orleans to do research for a totally different book which has not been published. I tried to get rid of him, and the poem written pour Louis about New Orleans was written because he insisted on pestering me spiritually all night long as we walked through Bourbon Street, and I wrote that poem when I got back home. I started to realize he was connected to a sinister and sad past life I had with him, and he eventually became bad boy Emile in WHEN WE DO MEET AGAIN. The book was written but not published when, once again, Louis entered my flight meditation as I came home from an RWA conference in California. I hastily wrote the poem DANCE WITH ME ISABELLA on the back of my binder from the conference. That's how fast it came. That was when "Louis" touched my heart, and I realized how hurt he was. I also started taking Tango and Waltz lessons at a local dance studio which is why you have that torrid Tango scene in the book. Louis likes to dance. I did not use Louis as my character's name because of Ann Rice's protagonist in INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE. I did not want people to think I took her character's name even though I have often thought we had the same muse for our books. I used Louis' name in BENEATH THE WINGS OF ISIS and assigned it to a scientist character whose personality is nothing like the muse's. My dog is also named for this muse. Louis will always remain the lamenting lover with a bad boy personality to me. By writing and publishing the book, I have both healed and forgiven him. Read both the NEW ORLEANS poem and then read DANCE WITH ME, ISABELLA and realize that the inspiration for both those poems is the same Louis, and you will understand why I had to forgive him for letting me down in 1838.
Eventually Louis' dark and deadly personality was replaced with Francois' who will remain with me until all of the Isis medallions have been found. There is a reason why the word inspire looks so much like in spirit.
If you read the poem from REFLECTIONS OF TODDSVILLE, you will see a totally different tone from a totally different personality--Cuyler's. I LIVE IN THE TWILIGHT is far more literary, and its style more poetic, whereas Louis' style is dark, sensual and sinister. I have asked many people which personality they would rather have sex with Stephen or Emile from WWDMA (remember Emile is Louis--I made up Stephen). Got an answer? Many readers tell me that they fell in love with Stephen and had great empathy for him, but would rather sleep with Emile. Romantic women who love to read find the New Orleans poem to be their favorite, but more literary-minded, spiritually attuned folk choose Cuyler's poem. Which one do you like?
Do you like Cuyler or Emile or Stephen? :-) Your answer says a lot about you!
Q: Are all the books my past lives?
A. Essentially
Q:Is each poem from a muse?
A: No. The PRINCESS OF OZ is my own creation based on a character I played in LOVE LETTERS. It is a readers theater style play. I was so touched by the pathos of the character, I just had to write a poem about her. She was not a muse, just a sad and tragic character I brought to life for a few short weeks and who taught me many things about life.

New Orleans
by H. Van Horne (For Louis)
Float on down to my Vieux Carré,
And let me steal your soul.
Such pretty lips you got, mon cher,
Your loves my only goal.
A rose, a mask, I hypnotize,
I charm with no remorse.
Come close and feel my eyes, mon cher,
And travel passion’s course.
You tell them all my stories?
Then you can be my bride.
I’ll treat you, oh so nice, mon cher,
You’ll never leave my side.
I tease your feet with my Cajun beat?
Bright beads will make you smile.
Then I’ll waltz you onto Bourbon Street,
And bleed you for a while.
Your life’s too bright to take, mon cher,
There’s fire in those eyes.
Their sapphire blue tells only truth,
And sees through all my lies.
I never thought a woman,
Could find freedom from my hand.
But, you got someone deep inside,
And now I understand.
